HSF Joint Workshop with WLCG
WCLG-HSF workshop at DESY (13-17 May) (it will go back public very soon!)
Registration should open at the end of this week (which will happen via DESY Indico).
Graeme, Eduardo and Caterina are helping with the overall organisation for HSF.
Our ideas so far:
- Presentations on Open Science from EVERSE/ESCAPE/OSCARS
- Analysis Facilities, also with WLCG
- Community Software Tools
- We have some specific ideas (e.g., CondDB, Phoenix, Key4hep), but we also want to have an open call for contributions
- WG Activities
- What to people think? We up-front had the idea that we could have session on training, as it is such a transversal topic
- Please let us know ASAP on this, at the latest by the end of February
- Software Citation workshop follow-up?
- Use this as an opportunity to wrap this one up!
- And discuss any follow-up actions (e.g., global BiBTeX)
- Plus it is the HSF’s 10th birthday, we look at the history and discuss the future

Google Summer of Code 2024
Registration for organizations opened. The HSF team will stay the same as last year (Baidyanath, Wouter, Valentin, Benedikt).
Focus this year should be more on AI related topics as asked for by Google. Biggest visible change is the introduction of a small project category. Which means we have small (~90 hours), medium (~175 hrs) and large (~350 hours) projects. Deadline for project proposals is next week Feb 7 !

The convener teams for 2024 are converging now!
New conveners who are joining now are:

- Holly Szumila-Vance (JLab, ePIC) joins the Training WG
- Rainer Hauser (Michigan, ATLAS) joins the Tools and Packaging WG
- Steve Mrenna (Fermilab) joins the Generators WG
- Joe Osborn (BNL, sPHENIX and ePIC) joins the Reconstruction and Software Trigger WG
Data Analysis
Planning for first coordinator meeting next week to make a plan for 2024.
Would like to have some meetings on workflow tools this year. HS3 is another topic to discuss.

PyHEP
- WG organisation meeting next week.
- Organisation of the PyHEP.dev 2024 developers workshop (Aachen, August 2024) is well advanced and an advertisement is due really soon.
- The LHCC asked for an executive summary on the first PyHEP.dev workshop held in Princeton in 2023. A draft is attached to this meeting’s agenda, for which feedback is welcome. It will be presented at the LHCC session on February 27th.
JuliaHEP
There are a few HEP papers that were submitted to JuliaCON 2024.

Next public version of the AFF report is almost ready. LHCC also want to look at this topic again this year (DESY workshop will be good preparation).
Compute and Accelerator Forum
- Meeting on HEPiX Benchmarking is scheduled for 14 February
- We are planning and actively inviting speakers for the rest of 2024

Website
There is an issue in GitHub to gather ideas about reorganising and revamping the website to better reflect our areas of actual activity.
We aim to try and have a new website ready for the workshop.

The coordination team continues to meet and discuss how we should re-organise things for the years to come - we shall report soon!
